Europe is a continent that lies entirely in the Northern Hemisphere, with the majority of its landmass in the Eastern Hemisphere. It is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, the west by the Atlantic Ocean, the south by the Mediterranean Sea, and the east by Asia. It is made up of the westernmost peninsulas of Eurasia’s continental landmass. The Ural Mountains’ watershed, the Ural River, the Caspian Sea, the Greater Caucasus, the Black Sea, and the Turkish Straits’ waterways are often thought to divide Europe from Asia. Even though much of this boundary is on land, Europe is commonly referred to as a continent due to its vast physical size and the significance of its history and customs.
