Overview
Hong Kong, officially known as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (HKSAR). It lies on the eastern Pearl River Delta in South China and is a metropolitan area and special administrative region of China. Its 1,104-square-kilometre (426 sq mi) territory is home to over 7.5 million residents of various nationalities. This makes it one of the world’s most densely populated places.
The city’s skyline and natural harbor have earned it the nickname “Pearl of the Orient”. While its highly developed economy and free market system have established it as a major financial and business hub. The city has its own government and legislative council. Moreover, it has a separate legal system from mainland China. Its food, shopping, and entertainment are world-renowned, attracting millions of visitors annually. Despite ongoing political tensions, Hong Kong remains a vibrant and dynamic city that is constantly evolving.
