Southeast Asia is home to Vietnam, officially known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Vietnam is located at the eastern edge of the Indochinese Peninsula. Covering 331,699 square kilometers and divided into 58 provinces and five municipalities. With over 96 million inhabitants, it ranks as the world’s sixteenth-most populous country. It shares its borders with China to the north and Laos and Cambodia to the west. As well as maritime borders with Thailand through the Gulf of Thailand. Moreover the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia through the South China Sea. The country’s largest city is Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), and its capital is Hanoi.
